In July many cities across the United States participate in events
to recognize this milestone piece of legislation on behalf of persons
with disabilities. Contact your IL Coordinator for more insight.
National Disability Employment Awareness Month:
October has been proclaimed by the President as National Disability

Events
Apple Festival:
The Center participates in the Apple Festival in Eden, NC during
the month of October. For information contact Robert Broome, IL
Coordinator for Caswell and Rockingham Counties. His information
is listed on the Home Page.
Eat,
Meet & Greet Social:
The Center hosts a cross disability recreational event for our
consumers. It includes all five counties of our service area.
Information will be posted as available.
Computer
Training Classes
Two separate
classes will be held on alternate months from February through July.
The first class is Basic Computing:
- The
difference between hardware and software
-
Identifying peripherals
-
Using input devices such as keyboard and mouse.
- Navigating
the screen, such as pointing, clicking and highlighting
objects.

Inserting, formatting and deleting text.

Working with objects, pictures and GUI.

The second class
will be Understanding the Internet:
- Understanding
URLs.
- How to use
e-mail.
- Message
boards, listservs and chat.
- Search techniques.
